He was just a stray kitten someone had thrown away. He won my heart from day one. And, of course, stray or not, a cat always chooses his/her mom. Fortunately, he chose me. I took a snapshot when he was small, sent it to a local newspaper to be entered in their pet photo contest, and he won!
I named him Sweet William. I call him my shadow; just under my feet, step for step. Trips me as I move across the kitchen, causing me to spill coffee down my front.
I pull him with the covers, making the bed; lift him out of the suitcase, packing for a trip,
later find his toy mouse inside.
He slits his eyes, pleased, when I speak his name. Curls up beside, or on me; rubs his head under my chin, his motor running, his paw placed gently on my cheek.
What makes the best mom ever? A little four letter word spelled L O V E.
