Emailing Large Photo Files

Post image for Emailing Large Photo Files

I’ve just been testing out a program that makes sending large files very quick and easy.

In a nutshell, here is what you can do:

  • E-mail large files directly from Outlook.
  • Send files of up to 2GB to any e-mail address.
  • Receive large files from anyone.
  • Save time by sending files directly from Outlook or Outlook Express. Nothing to learn, no hassle at all!

With SendYourFiles, you can send up to 2GB files through e-mail, without cluttering up your friend’s or client’s mailbox.   You can send high-resolution pictures, complete CDs, or even DVDs without problems!  You can email video, send music and email any type of file you want.

You  can organize files in folders and share files and folders with others. You can even create photo galleries by just uploading a few pictures.

SendYourFiles software integrates easily with Outlook and Outlook Express OR you can use the online web interface to send large files.

One thing that many people don’t do, is backup their photos.  With SendYourFiles you can also ensure your photos, videos and other important files are safely backed up at a secure, remote location. SendYourFiles Backup will backup any changes to your files daily and your files are fully secured using 256-bit AES Encryption.

They have a free trial … which I am testing right now … so you can see if it is a good fit for you before you spend a cent.

What’s YOUR favorite file sending program?

I just tried this, and it is very easy. I’ve used YouSendIt with success before, but it looks like SendYourFiles has way way more storage capacity and thus gives me a way to backup many of my precious photos.

Thanks for your comment Jon. You nailed what I think is one of the big benefits of this service >>> the ability to store photos!

Do you know what happens if you want to send more than one photo? That’s one of my problems, having to upload dozens of photos at once and then the client has to download them one at a time.

I haven’t tried sending multiple photos yet, but according to SendYourFiles

One-click download
Even if you send more than 100 files in one email, the recipient can download all files with just one click. The recipient downloads a single zip file that contains all files of the e-mail.

AND it appears you can also upload entire folders.

James, I just sent 50 photo files to my sister as a test. It was beyond fast and easy. All 50, all at once. She said she got one zip file and opened it with no problems. Hope that answers your question.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Another point is that hosting can be an powerful tool for sending large files. In fact, it’s essential for smooth business operations. The best thing to do is get a fast multi-user FTP hosting service with large storage, unlimited transfers, and private or workgroup file areas. That way you can securely transfer, store or share large files using FTP software, or any web browser, or automated systems.

Thanks for your comment Isabel. One of the challenges for many photographers is setting up a file transfer system that is easy for themselves and ULTRA easy for their clients. Perhaps you’d like to write an article that outlines how YOUR system would work for photographers? Melanie

Thanks for this … I was wondering how to get a pile of photos to my brother. It worked. Took me 5 minutes to figure it out and even less time to send the photos.

Another learning curve aced.
