Jayne Flaagan’s Doggy’s Busy Day is a great read to get beginning young readers engaged in learning to read and communicate the ideas behind the stories.
I loved all the pictures of Ella and I know my grandchildren will too. This is mommy approved and an excellent first reader for young children. Everyone loves dogs and Ella is definitely a cut above the rest in picture format. Thanks Jayne, for producing a book that children will be drawn to.

I loved this book about Ella the Doggy! What a great book to read to children, or for them to read if they can! This book is filled with pictures of days in the life of Ella. . . scenes of the fall, or autumn season. . And, most children love animals. . . especially dogs. The story is easy to read, and the author has asked a question on many of the pages to prompt children to think about what was on that page, or relate it to something in their life–taking the experience of this story to another level.
I would highly recommend this book for children. I think it would be a great asset for teachers to have as a resource for a lesson on autumn. And, as a grandmother, I will enjoy reading it to my smaller grandchildren!

The combination of pictures and plot in Doggy Finds Her Bone offers a perfect opportunity for a grandfather (or grandmother) to share with a grandchild too young to read on his or her own. The search of a beautiful dog hunting for a bone in the typical American home is a story familiar to every young child.
With 4 grandchildren under 4 years of age, I’m constantly looking a book that will entice them into my lap for a period of reading and sharing. The author’s questions – tailored for a young mind – encourages interaction between the reader and child beyond the written words, transforming simple entertainment into a shared learning experience for both. It’s a perfect story to share with a Grandchild! Every grandparent should own the books from Ella the Doggy series!
