Here’s What Several Reviewers Had To Say:
The Kuthun is an excellent start to what looks to be a brilliant series. Elena is an excellent lead character who is strong, relatable and arcs brilliantly throughout the book. The Kuthun is an ancient family heirloom that is given to Elena when she turns 16. This is passed to each member of Elena’s family when she is ready. Elena is the latest generation from a long line of witches who have been hunted and killed by Puritans who hate paganism and anything related to it. What surprised me and from the other reviews it appears I am not the only one is that this is a YA novel with no love interest. This is a welcome change from almost every other YA novel out there as this book focuses on telling a new and brilliant story and not retelling the same love story we have all read 1000 times.
Overall this is an excellent YA novel that avoids a lot of the pitfalls plaguing the genre and was very hard to put down. I really hope the author continues the series as it looks to be excellent.

I loved the way the author set this story up. It’s a slow build in the first couple of chapters but so worth it because we get to know Elena a little better before her life turns upside down. She’s a young girl who has lost her mom. Life with her Uncle & Aunt is ok but things are about to get really interesting on her sixteenth birthday when this young witch comes into her own.
This is a well-written coming of age story that I enjoyed. It’s a witch tale with creative world-building and good suspense. There were some scary moments that kept me tuning the page. Overall, great read.

Absolutely loved this book! I feel like this could be the next big book series like Twilight, Hunger Games, Divergent etc. The Kuthun doesn’t just follow the typical storyline of falling in love and then finding out about some crazy supernatural being which I also appreciated. Elena has grown up knowing about her family of witches, and is such a strong female character as we get to watch her grow up. The Kuthun is an ancient charm that allows her to learn about the past, and now it’s up to her to learn the truth. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t recommend it enough–will definitely be reading the rest of this series.
