Blog Comments Contest

winnersI’m encouraging comments on the new BLOG website by holding a contest.

The prizes will change monthly, and will be dependent on the number of RELEVANT comments you have made on the blog.

Your very first comment will give one entry into the monthly sweepstakes draw.  When you add 10 comments you will again be added to the draw bin, but if you get picked, the prize will be bigger!  There are 5 levels.

Prizes:
Level 1 – one comment – $25 Amazon Gift Certificate
Level 2 – 10 comments – $35 Amazon Gift Certificate
Level 3 – 20 comments – $50 Amazon Gift Certificate
Level 4 – 50 comments – $75 Amazon Gift Certificate
Level 5 – 100 comments – $150 Amazon Gift Certificate

Rules:

Yes there are rules! We want to keep an even playing field.

  1. Your comments must be relevant.
  2. Comments must be a minimum of 150 characters (approx 2-3 sentences) We consider comments like “nice post, like your stuff.” to be spam.
  3. All comments must be appropriate to a general audience.
  4. Comments that are considered SPAM in anyway will not be accepted or published.
  5. If you achieve two (or even three) levels in one month you will be eligible for the higher prize level.
  6. Prize will be awarded by a random draw of all eligible entries for the month.

You can add your comments to any post or page, but I’ve added two posts that will make it easy to get started:

Suggestion Box.  As time allows, we are transferring information from the old site format to the new Blog format. We are also open to suggestions of what you would like to see more of on the Blog.

Introductions. Tell us who you are and what you do or dream of doing … hopefully it has something to do with Freelancing, photography, writing or Internet Entrepreneurship (if that isn’t a word, you know what I mean!) You may include your twitter URL and a website URL.

Note: When you make a comment, you will be asked for a user name (you are allowed to use your real name) and your email address.  Your email address will NOT be published.

The first time you add a comment, it will be approved by a live being (either alien or not). After that your posts will automatically be published, unless they get snagged by the spam catcher.

Good luck to all … I am looking forward to giving out those Gift Certificates!

Melanie

PS … feel free to add your own gravitar, they are free and fun.

I am a children’s author. My dream and wish is to get a picture book published with beautiful illustrations. Of course, I can write the text and the publisher would find the illustrator. Right now, I have books out there with diagrams, drawings and photos but not beautiful illustrations. I appeciate your site because I can enter the writing contests.

    • Melanie says:

Many Children’s book authors find an illustrator to collaborate with, and then present a package (text & illustrations) to the publisher. Look for students in the final year of an art program, or a local artist group. Of course you’ll want to make sure to have an agreement (in writing) with your collaborator before you submit!

  3. I love entering contests even though I haven’t won any yet. But if I do not enter how can I win? I am a voracious reader so an Amazon gift certificate will come in very handy. Thank you for this opportunity. Avil

    • Melanie says:

You are right … you CAN’T WIN if you don’t enter. AND if anyone ever tells you you’ve won a contest you didn’t enter RUN … it’s a scam!

      • Hi Melanie,
I am a published author of a book on business and life and there is a companion workbook, but the contests that I have entered were for poetry, flash fiction and memoir. There is something about tapping into your creative side. Thanks! Avil

  4. Karen Jorritsma says:

I am an avid reader and interested in anything that has a contest in it. My goal is to complete a cookbook and a children’s book and get them both published one day. i am interested in reading other blog comments and perhaps in learning something new.

    • Melanie says:

There are loads of writing contest in the database and there are a pile of “easy” essay contests in the FUN contest category. Start with the free to enter contests and then try some of the lower priced contests (less competition).

It appears there are a few people interested in Children’t books and Cookbooks so I’ll find a few Experts and invite them to be a Guest Blogger!

  5. This is neat! I enter contests religiously but never seem to win…I am a writer/poet/freelancer. I have one poetry book published. I have worked with several clients and on different projects. I also want to publish another poetry book, cookbook and fantasy novel…so if anyone is interested? Right now…I am just looking to find more work…Please feel free to contact me. I would love to do more relationships stuff and maybe get an advice column.
    Sincerely,

    • Melanie says:

Wow Amber you are very busy! Congratulations on getting your poetry book published. I just looked at your website … and you’ve had A LOT of your poetry and stories published. Many people talk about writing, but few actually put their butt on a chair and do it!

Keep on entering the contests … you just never know when you’ll win a BIG one!

  6. Lisa Hallman says:

I’ve been trying to discover my dream for quite some time. Problem is that I love so many things. I don’t want one type of job all week. I love design, gardening, being physically active, writing, and photography. I have never been able to figure out how to make that into a career. I believe I’m good enough at writing and photography to get paid but when I’m under pressure to perform my creative juices wane. I guess when it comes down to it, I would enjoy being a freelance writer and photographer. But at the same time I would love to have a real job working outdoors and motivating others. I would love to have your input.
