I would love to win this book. I’m steadily working toward not having to work for somebody else and I can always use more tips in achieving that goal!

I wrote a short story for a magazine contest a 2 years ago and came in 2nd place out of 200+ entries. Since that time I haven’t found any successful way to market myself. I really think this book will help me.

2nd place out of 200 is great. Keep on entering writing contests and building your portfolio that way … marketing is made up of hundreds of small steps taken consistently!

Hello, Melanie.
The author’s book is very useful for those finding their way into the business of writing. Unlike paintings, writings can never be framed and appreciated by viewers. Writing must be understood, loved and devoured in order to be appreciated. Combining art and business is a crucial skill in determining the survival rate of an aspiring writer.
But the upside is that, writing is the cheapest medium of art; we can start from a scratch of paper. There will be no spill or spoiled canvas. Our glory is to be read, understood, loved and devoured. Our glory is to experience that from NOTHING, something great and profound is created: a novel, a script, a poem.

I have always wondered if these give-a-ways are for real? I have entered quite a few and paid a fee for some, too. I have never heard back from any one of the contest, but this one seems to be on the up and up. I have been writing for years and would like to begin a career as a freelance writer. The book would be an asset that will come in handy for my new choice of a career. I have won two playwriting contest for Best Playwright/One Act Plays and I have two novels finished and ready to be published along with four short stories. Thank you for this chance to win.

Good luck with this contest! AND congratulations on your two playwriting contest wins. One of the things that many “would be” authors fail to understand is that you actually have to do the work! LOL By the way … hope you know about the writing contest database!
