Our robot family takes a meaningful trip to a family counsellor, navigating the big building and its many stairs to meet the kind counselor and share their feelings. This first step in their journey reassures young readers that it’s okay to seek help and talk about their feelings.
Each book in the “Always My Parents” series will navigate a different facet of the divorce/separation experience, such as managing new living arrangements, adjusting to co-parenting, and preserving love and respect in changed circumstances.
Our overarching aim is to reassure young readers that they are not alone in these experiences. We hope to create a gentle, comforting space where they can explore their feelings, ask questions, and better understand their changing world. Always engaging and supportive, the “Always My Parents” series is a comforting hand to hold during a time of family change.
You will also find a collection of carefully designed worksheets meant to facilitate meaningful conversations with your children about their feelings and worries during this significant family transition. These worksheets will serve as a guide to navigate these potentially difficult discussions, ensuring your children feel heard, validated, and supported.
Additionally, we’ve included a list of positive affirmations. These affirmations are designed to reinforce self-esteem and foster a positive mindset in your children, crucial elements of emotional well-being during times of change. We suggest cutting these affirmations out and placing them in a jar. Each day, your child can pick one affirmation from the jar to focus on, essentially giving them 365 days of positivity and reassurance. This simple yet powerful exercise can make a world of difference in promoting their resilience and maintaining a positive outlook.
