Aspirant is a well written book with a strong female lead and engaging side characters, and a compelling story. If you’re a fan of progression novels, you should definitely check this one out. – Amazon Review
Aspirant (The Keys to the Kingdom Book 1)
The world of Caleed is broken, and its inhabitants know little of their history. Cities with high walls are small, bright points of light on a dark map. Though some manifest power, the ability to draw strength from the aspects of mana, the truly mighty have gone from the world. Those who seek to reclaim that past glory, to reforge the lost powers, are said to walk “The Path of Fools.”
Adept Jeyen, of the House of Song, has achieved as much as anyone may within the confines of Whiteriver, the hidden city. Her aspect has given her power, pulled from the ever-present aether, strengthening her body and mind. These are but means to an end, and what she truly desires requires a plan, decades in the making, to bring to fruition.
The characters are interesting to read, and feel human. I found myself trying to figure out the characters’ motivations as I went through the book, and I felt like I was rewarded in the end, because they make sense and make for a good story.
Definitely a book that I will recommend. -Amazon Review
