Guess this just goes to prove the point that we never truly know a person or his story. Very well written, and couldn’t put it down. Brought me to tears near the end as some of your story and feelings are so very relatable! Thank you! – Amazon Review
Born Into Darkness
When a man spends his entire life searching for the light, he must dwell in the darkness until he learns to make his own.
Born into the Darkness is a harrowing true story about one man’s journey from a childhood of sexual abuse and violence to finding his peace within.
Sam is lost—like his entire family. A vicious household of the abused and the abusers, Sam grows up in a loveless, cruel home. In the wake of his neglect, a teenage Sam spirals out of control. That is, until he meets Joy. A girl who shows him love for the first time in his life. When the young relationship falters, so does his mental health. After making an attempt on his life, Sam joins the military, desperate to set himself on the right path. While enlisted, he meets a new girl, and they marry. But he doesn’t find the love he seeks. No one fills the void Joy left in his heart. Soon, that relationship dissolves along with everything else around him. Sam finds himself alone once again, looking for the light.
But he is lost. Time and time again, Sam falls into the darkness of depression until his own strength finds him a way home.

Why I wrote this book: I was initially tasked by my therapist after a suicide attempt to write a diary. After presenting her with my diary, she suggested that I needed to get my story out to others so it progressed into a novel. My hope is that It will help others dealing with abuse, severe depression, and suicide and help them realize that there is hope.
Writing the book gave me such a sense of relief from my past. Almost as if putting it down on paper removed the emotional strain.
