‘Barker has created a believable, yet horrible, tale – which plays out in a claustrophobic realm in decline’
‘Violent, tragic, and sometimes even quite funny, characters tell a story of fighting for a way out… you might root for them or you might just end up hating them, either way you will care about what happens to them.’

Breachman is the debut novel by author Chris Barker – a British author with a love of action, low-fantasy and building characters to love and hate.
The story is one of a tiny kingdom, cut off from any knowledge of the wider world around it, being torn apart by forces within. One side of the long-running civil war is fighting to restore peace and order, whilst the other seeks freedom from oppression of a monarch and his quasi-religious government.
In a land where resources are scarce, technology and culture has developed in new directions.
But newly found abundance threatens to shake the balance and bring a bloody end to the fighting.
About the Author
Chris Barker was born a thousand years too late into a world entirely too realistic for his liking.
In his opinion, he should be riding one of Kaelith’s horses gloriously into battle. Or sprinting across the open field charging down a shield wall. Or possibly just drinking himself into a stupor in one of the capital’s many taverns – one of the seedier ones. Since he isn’t though, you’ll maybe find him walking with his ever-patient wife and dog in the woods of Buckinghamshire. When he isn’t outdoors, he’ll be sat in his study at an antique desk, with his grandfather clock ticking away in the background, flying spaceships in virtual reality.
A self-confessed uber-geek. He studied Criminology at the University of Manchester and became enamoured with Game Theory, the interaction between opposing players and the strategy of conflict. After graduation, he joined the financial sector during its spectacular collapse into the financial crisis and has been fighting that battle ever since.
He writes for fun. If someone enjoys one of his stories then it proves he can take 26 letters and put them in the right order to make someone happier.
And he hopes that someone is you.
