“Carnival of Dreams” is a very fun read. It is part cyber-thriller, part romance, and part fantasy. Customers can purchase a software program that will cause them to fall into a deep sleep and enter the carnival world. There they can interact with each other and live out their wildest fantasies. The difference between this world and the world of MMORPGs is that the participants in the Carnival actually experience what is happening to their “avatars.” There is a lot of things going on at the carnival and to tell you who is actually behind the Carnival would be a major spoiler. The book is funny, sad, and thrilling. O’Neill has definitely left the door open for a sequel. I certainly hope it doesn’t take too long to come out. 🙂 – Amazon Review
After tasting the delights of an erotic dream world, chronic insomniac Rebecca’s dream life becomes something she craves more than sleep.Â
Rebecca’s decision to move to Maine was supposed to make her life less complicated, not more. Still suffering from debilitating insomnia eighteen months after the auto accident that took her fiancé’s life, Rebecca desperately craves the sweet oblivion of sleep. After trying a sleep hypnosis video, her life becomes more bizarre than she could ever have imagined, as this one innocent decision leads her down a road filled with amorous escapades.
In a nocturnal landscape of otherworldly oddities and sensual pleasures, erotic dreams soon become something she craves even more than sleep itself. Her waking life gets turned upside down after discovering that her sexy dream lover is real. Torn between the real world and a dream world filled with seductive adventures, her safe, quiet life slowly begins to unravel and she’s left wondering—what is reality and what is the dream?
Trying to make sense of the odd phenomena, Rebecca must uncover the truth whether she’s being aided or manipulated by the mysterious shape-shifting magician guiding her dreams, Dr. Gedry Neer. She continues to be drawn back to the carnival by the promise of spending time with her deceased fiancé, while being pursued in real life by the sexy Marine who has awakened something in her that she believed to be long buried.
Will she be able to break away from the lure of her beloved—but dead—dream fiancé and give herself to a real flesh-and-blood man? Does she want to?
About the Author
Faris O’Nell
I have always loved reading about things that I may never get to experience in life. As full a life as I’ve had so far, I will probably never experience the Aryan brotherhood gangs in prison, for example, or being sex trafficked in Hong Kong. But I’m curious! Paranormal shape shifters, Vampires, BDSM, trekking Everest…I simply crave adventure.
My favorite things growing up in Colorado were horseback riding, rodeo, dancing, martial arts, dogs, and boys. As part of a close-knit, fun-loving family, there was never a dull moment in our household of five children and my parents. I was encouraged in my creativity by my mother, who is also a writer.
My best activities at U of C Boulder were raising hell and telling tall tales, and they actually gave me an MFA in creative writing for that. I supported myself through school as an exotic dancer, so the tall tales are true.
After I graduated, I took off for a year to trek the Andean Altiplano in Peru, with my boyfriend and a donkey named Noelle. I learned Quechua, the indigenous language of the Incan Empire, and collected folk stories. I also spent two years in Vietnam studying a martial arts practice called Vovinam, which trains both the mind and body in spiritual pursuits. I meditate daily and sometimes chase my wayward goats with a wooden stick.
I believe all aspects of human sexual engagement is important and valid, as long as it’s between consenting adults and does not intentionally hurt anyone. The range of sexuality that humans have employed to express their individuality fascinates me. As I said above, even the experiences that I will probably never be able to explore myself are fascinating, and I love to research and write about everything freaky.
I now live on a small ranch near my sprawling clan in Colorado, with a burly husband, two elfish sons and an ever-changing menagerie of dogs, birds, cats, goats, hamsters, and assorted other small beasts.
