Simply written. Deeply poignant. There lies the skill of this young man’s grasp on the journey of a life. Personal to him, often identifiable to the reader, there are messages and thoughts that express a rare sensitivity to what he calls transition through life! Modern and traditional in approach this is infused with wit and quirky art that adds a refreshing lightness. A great read to be looked at more than once!. Its beauty lies in the reader’s own interpretation. I found myself thinking back with each life stage visited. Memories flooding……… A knowing smile – Amazon Reviewer
Dudebro!:
The Life and Death of a Modern Gentleman
165 epic poems, 6 Flash Fiction stories, and 70 hand-painted acrylic illustrations compose this poetry book celebrating masculinity through the birth, life, and death of a Modern Gentleman (mod-gent). Potential readers – don’t be alarmed! Only the very best of man’s heroic successes and damned failures live on these pages!
This experience is divided into 6 chapters of a man’s life: Infancy, Boyhood, Teenager, Manhood, Parenthood, and the Elderly Years. Read through and participate in what it feels like to throw your first punch in school, struggle with the pain of teenage heartbreak and loneliness, imagine the strength and despair of being a powerful and despised young man, imagine the isolation and jealousy of knowing you will never give birth…never have that connection with a child like it does with its mother. Lastly, grow and understand as age catches up and you are forced to face all those things you fled from for so many years.
This book is not just a compilation of poems. This book is an objective, visceral journey of life through the eyes of a middle-class, down-to-earth, regular Modern Gentleman. See the world as a man does. Only then will you truly understand what it means to have boy parts.
About the Author:
Hey all! I’m an American writer born in the PA mountains, raised in the AZ desert, and residing at the NJ shore (river and ocean, depending on the day). I am half Armenian and half Norwegian with very little cultural influence from either countries, so I spend a good deal of time learning about myself. My hobbies include hiking with my girlfriend and dog, birding, and reading and writing.
My goal as a writer is to inspire, frustrate, and satisfy my readers. I want to write truth in all its forms, without censorship, for truth in art is the greatest expression of life. I write fiction stories in many genres, including Young Adult, Contemporary & Inspirational Romance, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Literature, and books of poetry.
