“A refreshingly candid look into the experiences of stroke survivors, Emerging From the Dark by Terence Ang is both informative and inspiring. Arranged as a series of essays, the book uses original illustrations as a companion to the text in order to examine myriad topics faced by stroke survivors: physical and mental health, depression, loneliness, as well as the determination to get better and start a new life. Powerful and unabashed in its comprehensive overview of what people might face, this is a book for anyone who is struggling after a stroke and needs some inspiration, as well as for caregivers and family members who wish to better understand one of the most life-changing health conditions.” -Self-Publishing Review
Emerging From the Dark
About the Author
Terence Ang was a man used to being the one calling the shots and having full control of his life. When he had a stroke in August 2020, the largest electronics and home appliances company in Singapore at the time had him in charge of digital marketing and e-commerce.
It was a rude shock for him to suddenly need to depend on others, and this experience resulted in his first book, A Cry in the Dark. In the process, he made new friends and also overcame new challenges. This led to his second book, incorporating stories of other stroke survivors with his own hand-drawn illustrations that powerfully sheds light on life after a stroke.
As a stroke survivor, he wanted to make a difference in someone’s life through his own journey with the hope of providing a positive outlook as one navigates everyday life. This new book Emerging From the Dark has received multiple accolades from readers who were touched and inspired by his resilience.
His journey of recovery continues as he works on his third book, which will be launched later this year.
