This is a great, quick, but valuable read on personal care and vital habits needed to not just survive, but thrive as a physician/care giver in today’s health care market. If we don’t take care of ourselves, there won’t be anyone to care for others in the void. This book offers some strong insight and advice on how to do just that. – Amazon Review
Fully Alive:
Experiencing the Five Pillars of Wholeness
Dr. Adewale is a consummate advocate for physicians and residents in-training wellness. His passion for physician wellness started over a decade ago with the identification of increasing physicians and residents in-training burn-out.
The search for the solution to this problem led to the development of the wellness program for the Emergency Medicine residents. This passion was cemented when healthcare institutions were promoting the concept of Whole Patient Care in the midst of increasing physicians’ burnout, depression, and suicides.
Dr. Adewale’s understandings of the impracticality of burned-out physicians performing Whole Patient Care prompted his research into how physicians could become whole and overcome or prevent burn-out. This was predicated on the theory that a physician that is not whole, depressed, burned-out, cannot perform a whole patient care. The culmination of his research is the context of this book.

” I just finished reading your book and was overwhelmed by the power and insights that you have shared. I could not put the book down and had to finish it as quickly as possible as I did not want to wait and learn what you are sharing and teaching as the timing is critical for all of us.
This is such an incredible book and I love the examples and case studies. I cried and was thinking of you and what you stand for and as I have told you before you are a great teacher, physician, father, husband, leader and friend.
What is so interesting is that we have shared similar core values but rarely spoke of them- for me it is difficult but how you expressed your feelings and insight is just remarkable.
This book is a must-read for every physician and the entire health care team and providers who have been working in the care of patients for the last 3 years !!”…..Flerdoc
