IMI by An Noy is an absolutely stunning book that we just can’t get enough of. To start with, the breathtaking illustrations pull you into the story. They are so colorful, so lifelike and give you an amazing feeling of comfort looking at them.

When the little meerkat is having a hard day he just about gives up on the day, until an unexpected pick-me-up comes along. The little meerkat was having a hard time adjusting to new things.

But there in the shadow a sparkle comes along. It was a sparkling speck in the darkness. It is an IMI, something that came along to break the unhappiness and give some inspiration. “Like a rainbow at the end of a storm” the imi shows the meerkat how to look for the sparkle around him even when he only feels or sees the darkness. The imi shows him that when you can find that sparkle you know things can get better. I can not brag about this book enough. It was so charming, so adorable and so comforting. Even to my little one who understood what was happening and how he can look for the sparkle in his darkness too.

I received this as an ARC but we will be buying it to add it to our own library to share over and over again. We will be gifting it to some friends as well. This book is great for those of us with littles that sometimes struggle when things are new and hard and they can’t seem to find that little light. This book is so encouraging to children and I have to say it was encouraging and meaningful to me as well. We look for our own IMI now and it’s amazing what little sparks we can find to light our way.
