From the Author

I went through life wearing what I now call, the Clown Mask. You see, the clown always appears happy and his joy comes from bringing everyone else joy and happiness. I lived in domestic violence for many years and during this time I worked in criminal justice and law enforcement where I also donned this mask. I had to appear to have a command presence in my job, a peace in front of my children, and a joy to present to the world. I was dying, and the mask was no longer hiding my pain, or keeping me alive. I was living what I thought was Hell on Earth. I began to write this story about a young girl experiencing her own Hell on Earth. The mask that she wore was a demon sent to rob her of her joy and continue her cycle of despair.

As I was almost finishing this book, I experienced tragic circumstances in which my life was almost taken in my abusive marriage. I was finally able to close this chapter in my life, remove the mask, and finish this book. I am so thankful and grateful for new beginnings, and I hope you enjoy the book that became therapeutic for me.

About the Author

Cortina Jackson is the author of, “On Earth as It Is in Hell,” and “The Sounds of Silence Are The Loudest.” She has written several articles, and has appeared on various radio shows that showcase her enthusiasm for Fiction/Nonfiction works.

Cortina holds two Master’s degrees and has worked in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice for over 18 years. With Cortina’s experience and knowledge in law enforcement, she has seen firsthand that; oftentimes, life is scarier than fiction. This has given her a basis for the material in her writing that often seems too detailed to be true.

Cortina is the proud mother of two sons, she is currently working on her next novel, and she is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for writing with you.
