There is great tension from the start. Frank and Bret come across as the loveable, eccentric uncles, like Robert Duvall and Michael Caine in Secondhand Lions. Charles leaves the readers smoldering with questions for the first several chapters. After that, it is off to the races with mysticism. The plot gets filled in a most enjoyable way.
