I am loving this book so far. I must admit that I personally know the author and when I read what this book was about I was excited to read it. I was excited to read it because the wonderful woman who wrote it radiates joy and the Love of her Heavenly Father. Being joyful and having an attitude of thankfulness has always been a struggle for me so I knew I would learn from a woman who radiates that. Excellent, but simple read! You will be blessed!
Permissible Pleasures:
An Everyday Guide to the Abundant Life
“We will have to give account for every permissible pleasure that we forfeit.”
~Rabbinical saying
This quote struck me; and stuck with me. It was somehow profoundly intriguing, and I couldn’t get it out of my mind. After pondering it for a while I realized that it reminded me of my favorite Bible verse:
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”
(~Psalm 34:8)
I’ve loved this verse for years, because it is more than just a verse. It is a mindset; a way of thinking. And I believe the quote about “permissible pleasures” captures that same mindset. As a Christian, I believe we are called to a life of gratitude; a life of gratefulness for the love behind God’s blessings, big and small.
Come and join me as we explore some of these permissible pleasures God has for us.
