Greatness in the making
selfaware tracks back the growth and healing processes behind some of the poems available or based on the selfaware blog and new ones from the same author. It takes you through a humble real life journey of self-discovery and self-growth.
Through her poems, the author captures the emotions born from her automatic thoughts and, through her self interview, she lays down how those emotions affected her perception of herself and her interactions with others, inspiring you to stop trying to fit in and compelling you to focus on the person you aim to be.
I crossed a ruthless plain
flat but misleading terrain
with enchanting aspects
yet full of traps
Today I’m at the foot of the mountain
It was not that long ago
it seemed so far away
if I take the time to turn around
to appreciate again
the road traveled
It was enduring
but I don’t regret my scars on my feet
because this heap
I’m going to climb it
To you who still looks at it from afar
who doesn’t understand yet that you need it
who let yourself be intimidated by those who could not get over it
I encourage you to move forward with all your being
Come meet whom you are destined to be

About the Author
K0ukla Azeuli, I am a black woman who was born and raised in Cameroon and, as I like to say, matured in Canada where I had moved to when I was sixteen to study engineering. During my studies, I have had to design and program algorithms that needed to be translated into languages computers could understand. A skill I nurtured for years which turned into a habit. That habit spread to my thoughts and social interactions. I was trying to explain to myself why I was thinking the way I did, why I perceived human interactions the way I did, and why my perception was different than others’.
I used to think of myself as a social anomaly because I was questioning things no one else seemed to question; then I found out being a “social anomaly” is more common than I thought. So, I wrote a book, the first of a series of three.
I am bilingual. I write in both French and English.
I hope you enjoy my books
