For a first novel, this was great. A little wordy in places, but an easy read and I love the plot; good suspense and surprising. I’m looking forward to the next installment. Also looking forward to seeing how Aerts develops his writing style. – Amazon Review

The first volume of the Prophecies series – Seven Flames. A world reshaped by death, destruction and fire.
Abandoned by the heroes of days gone by, forgotten by the Gods and yet when all seems to be lost. A light sparks, in the form of a boy. Around him the survivors of the races assemble, refilled by the hope of nothing more then a promise, a prophecy. Will he be able to turn the tide or will the power of evil prove to be greater than expected?
Recommended for ages 14 and over.
As is often the case with stories they show the struggles between light and darkness but what if light has been all but obliterated?
My tale starts in such a world Asherah, torn asunder by the unholy union of dark creatures into the form of one Dark Lord terrible and with an insatiable lust for power and destruction. Cities fell one after another, civilizations destroyed and races pushed to the brink of existence. Hope isn’t gone but it is hard found, a boy who doesn’t yet realize what role he will play in the fate of the world. He is one of the lucky few who managed to escape the carnage his city is undergoing. Eothain and his mother are fleeing as driven by fate to the Ancient forest of Dunairia. She sacrifices herself so that he might live.
He finds unlikely companions and master that teach and train him. As fate has a lot in store for him he seems to be a beacon drawing all survivors to the forest to rebuild the old City that lies at its heart, Celeb’ Quessir. But they are al but safe, Eothain learns of the Creators of the Dark Lord and what he needs to do in order to beat him. To destroy the darkness he seeks to defeat he must become the thing he seeks to destroy. He will need to balance on a blade’s edge, lure of power and madness constantly pulling at him and on the other side the fate of the world and his friends.
He has to become the bastion of light to push back the darkness to restore the balance in the world. Follow his story and adventures to find out if he succeeds or fails. I could tell you the outcome but where is the fun in that. I wish you traveler luck and courage to dive into the world of Asherah.
