Untold Fairy Tales:
Stories the forest birds tell
Deep in the forest, fairytales are born. Behind trees, between fallen branches, balanced like dew on green leaves…
At dusk, animals whisper their stories in their friends’ ears, scurrying away quickly when they hear human footfalls.
Come a little closer and you will hear them too.
Stories of love, kindness, loneliness, friendship, and everything in between…
Move a little closer and you will experience them. You will walk through the forest with invisible friends, jump over thorns, pick wildflowers, wander into secret clearings, hear the song of a distant river, watch a bird fly over your head…
The trees come alive when no one is looking, so try to pretend you are not. Lower your voice, step lightly, and pull the leaves back.
Stories will unfold before you. Fairies will reveal themselves. Squirrels will speak.
Let them.
There is so much light we don’t get to see, so many sounds we don’t get to hear, so many flowers we don’t get to smell, such a big part of nature we are not aware of…
Deep in the forest, fairytales are born. This is where heroes like to dwell.
About the Author
I am Armenian, and my name is Luisa Galstyan, born in 1995. I was born in Yerevan and finished my degree from Armenian State Pedagogical University. After finishing my education, I decided to pursue my passion for drawing and illustration. I was incredibly blessed to know what I want to do for my career choice and joined a Graphic Design, Animation and Illustration courses. Growing up, I read too many mythology novels and fairytales, and I always drew them as I visualized them in my head. Hence my most drawings are heavily influenced by Mythology, and I incorporate them however I can. Moreover, I love the depictions of Grimm’s Fairy Tale, nature, and mythology in my art. These attributes are my favorite to draw for. I combine the formal techniques with abstracts, bringing the cinematic and fairytale in a collage to bring out the best in a drawing.
Now I have started working as a freelance illustrator, and with my profile, I get to work with the most successful publishing houses and authors in my country. I get to be the first few people who read the book and illustrate them. It’s been four years of my journey as a freelance illustrator. So far, I have illustrated many storybooks, fiction, non-fiction, children books, fairy tales, and novels. I love the process of listening to my clients, listening to their requirements and how they hope for their product to turn out. I mostly work freehand digital style and can work on various software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator for my digital escapades. It is true, “The Best feeling in the world is getting paid to do what you love,” and I enjoy every day with my work, clients who become friends and storybooks that get illustrated. It all is truly magical!
